Playdough time!
This week we made playdough with the kids, and they are loving it! The recipe I used was really simple, cheap, fast, and the consistency is identical to storebought playdough.

School’s out for Summer!
Today was Jordan and Drews last day of school, so they invited us to Beth Marie’s for some Icecream!
Lily’s sick
Well, Lily is officially sick.
Brendan had a fever of 103 last week, but it quickly went down and stuck around 100-101 for a day or two before disappearing all together.
Then a few days later, Lily developed a fever of nearly 104. Again, it was gone by the next morning (after a cool bath, tylenol and motrin) but hung out around 100 for a day before going away completely.
Last night, though, she started complaining that her tongue hurt. After looking in her mouth, we spotted a few small white ulcers on her tongue ![]()
Today we took her to the doctor, and in the time it took us to drive to the doctors office, she’d developed a large white ulcer on the tip of her tongue ![]()
She’s complaining about the pain a lot, so i’m keeping her on tylenol and giving her lots of cold stuff like milk, icecream and popsicles.
It could either be Herpangina (which Brendan and I both had a little over a year ago) or Hand Foot and Mouth.
Evidently HF&M Progresses into lesions on the hands and feet, while Herpangina progresses into swollen gums and lesions on the throat and soft palette. So we are kind of waiting to see which direction this heads. Not that it really matters, since both are viral and little can be done to help it (other than ease the pain).
Here are some pics I snagged in the doctors office. She was not doing too bad in these b/c I’d recently given her Baby Orajel, Thank goodness.

(this amuses me. Brendan saw that the camera was on, stuck his pointer finger in front of the lens and shouted “You’re number one!” LOL)

Kingergarten Roundup
On May 13th, we headed over to Brendan’s new school to check it out, tour the classrooms, and register him for school.
He got to see all the art rooms, music and computer rooms, kinder classrooms, the playground, library and more.
He loved the school and did so well during the presentations.
That night, one of my sessions was cancelled due to impending severe weather. Once it got to around 6:30, though, it was clear that no storms were coming. So we packed up the kids and headed back to the Elementary School for their “Family Night” event. Hula Hooping contests, a book fair and more. Brendan was in heaven (and Lily really enjoyed following him around
)
Yummy Crab
A few weeks ago, we went to Red Lobster with the kids, and I ordered a “you pick 2″ with Garlic Shrimp Scampi and Snow Crab. Lily proceeded to eat half of my shrimp, and all of my crab.
New Picnic Table for the kids… and dog?
We follow this awesome blog called Knock-Off Wood. Ana provides free plans for tons of kick-butt furniture that would cost an arm and a leg if you were to buy it from a store.
We built our first KOW plan about 2 weeks ago. We’ve had the wood sitting in the garage for a few weeks, but didn’t have the time until recently to get workin on it. The plans we used were for the “Big Kids Picnic Table”
While we knew the kids would love it (they’ve eaten dinner at it every night since it was built), we had no idea duke would be such a fan. *snicker*
Bluebonnets 2010
This is our 2nd year going out and doing pics of the kids in the bluebonnets. Normally I take an entire day of sessions and fit the kids in during an open spot or my lunch time.
This year I did theirs before my appointments.

You can see the entire set here (flickr f&f only).
Brendan’s Alphabet
We haven’t done a video of Brendan in a while, and I’m trying to get back in the habit of doing more of them.
So here’s Brendan, showing that he’s mastered the alphabet
The bench
A few weeks ago, I finished a bench I’d been working on.
We found it on the side of the road, dying to be fixed up

so with some new wood, stain, and paint, here is the finished bench

The carnival
A few weeks ago, we hit up a parking lot Carnival with grandma and grandpa.
We rode on lots of great rides and the kids had a blast
